The Sterling-EWB is the simple, secure, and reliable way to gather meaningful IoT intelligence and wirelessly send it to cloud services

Nuremberg, Germany – February 25, 2019 – A global leader in wireless technology, Laird Connectivity has developed a comprehensive IoT platform solution in a rugged, cost-effective package. The Sterling-EWB is a high performance 2.4 GHz WLAN and Bluetooth combo module that makes it easy to gather data from sensors and wirelessly send it to cloud services. With an industrial temperature rating and broad country certifications, the Sterling-EWB module provides design flexibility to meet a wide range of applications including security and building automation, IoT & M2M connectivity, and smart gateways.

Based on latest-generation Cypress 4343W silicon with an integrated ST Micro STM32F412 Cortex M4 MCU, the Sterling-EWB offers power-conscious battery management that enables deployment in remote battery powered devices. The onboard STM32F412 Cortex M4 Microcontroller complies with several sensor interfaces including SPI, QSPI, USART, PCM, ADC, I2C, I2S, GPIO, and JTAG.

The Sterling-EWB is also fully compatible with Cypress’s WICED SDK. The WICED SDK is a comprehensive software package that allows customers to leverage a suite of tools that are easy to use and simplify complex application designs. These capabilities, coupled with Laird Connectivity’s world-class support, allow customers to realize their IoT designs and get them to market quickly.

“The Sterling-EWB modules allow customers to confidently deploy an intelligent IoT solution with WLAN and Bluetooth technologies”, said Jonathan Kaye, Product Director for Laird Connectivity. “The advanced wireless modules eliminate design complexity, simplify integration, and reduce end user manufacturing cost.”

The Sterling-EWB is offered in three package styles including SIP module, PCB module with onboard chip antenna, or PCB module with u.FL connector. For simplicity of both the host PCB design and the manufacturing process, the chip antenna or RF connector version of the module are recommended. In addition, the on-module chip antenna package style offers greater resistance to de-tuning than typical trace or chip antennas – all in a smaller package.

Laird Connectivity is co-exhibiting at Embedded World in Hall 3 Booth 235. Stop by to learn more about the Sterling-EWB and Laird Connectivity’s other enhancements in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, and more.
