What is Massive MIMO?

MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) technology has been used with 4G antennas for quite a while now. A MIMO antenna setup includes two or more antennas located or associated with a single physical structure. With the benefit of multiple antennas rather than just one, data throughput, range, and general performance are greatly enhanced. Massive MIMO takes this technology one giant step further. With mMIMO – an extension of MIMO – far more antenna elements are used to simultaneously transmit and receive signal streams, providing better coverage and greater capacity.
