What is the difference between LoRa and LoRaWAN?

LoRa is the physical layer or modulation technique used for long-range, low-power communications links. LoRaWAN is a communication protocol and network architecture that sits on top of the LoRa physical layer. It is possible for a radio to use LoRa but not use LoRaWAN. Laird's RM1xx modules use a LoRa radio and the LoRaWAN protocol. You can learn more about LoRa, here .
