How do you pair a replacement CL4490 to an existing radio in a P2P (Point-to-Point) or P2MP (Point-to-MultiPoint) system?

If you have not already done so, you will need to download and install the Laird Configuration and Test Utility Software from the CL4490 Product Page as explained in the Laird Configuration and Test Utility User Guide.

Once the Utility is installed you need to READ the working radio from the existing system and configure the new radio with the following settings:

  1. If pairing with a Server set the new Radio to Client
    1. If pairing with a Client set new Radio to Server
  2. Set the RF Channel on new radio to SAME RF Channel set on existing radio
  3. Set the System ID to the SAME System ID set on existing radio
  4. If NEW radio will be configured as Client enable "Auto Destination" under radio features
  5. If NEW radio will be configured as Server enable "Broadcast" under radio features

  6. Alternatively: The radios can be direct addressed to each other by entering the pairing units MAC Address in the Destination Field and disabling Broadcast/Auto Destination under radio features
  7. Baud rate should be set to what is required by the system you are connecting to - default on new units is 57,600
  8. Be sure to Write the changes to the radio to save them.
