Industry-Leading Point-to-Point Backhaul Antenna Now Offers Dual-Slant Construction with Six New Models Available

St. Louis, Missouri, USA – March 3, 2011 – Laird Technologies, Inc., a global leader in the design and supply of customized performance-critical components and systems for advanced electronics and wireless products, today announced the release of its enhanced HDDA5W HD Series™ high performance dish antenna.

As one of the best performing point-to-point backhaul antennas available on the market, the HDDA5W dish antenna now offers dual-slant construction. Dual-slant construction provides polarization diversity for maximal-ratio combining, which eases the impact of multipath interference that often results in poor coverage areas.

Available in six new models that come in either two or three foot diameter sizes, the antenna operates in the 4.9 to 5.875 GHz band. Options include configurations for two different gains and three different polarities:

  • HDDA5W-29-SP - 29 dBi single polarity (Horizontal or Vertical)
  • HDDA5W-29-DP2 - 29 dBi dual-slant, dual polarity (Horizontal and Vertical)
  • HDDA5W-32-SP - 32 dBi single polarity (Horizontal or Vertical)
  • HDDA5W-32-DP2 - 32 dBi dual-slant, dual polarity (Horizontal and Vertical)

“The HDDA5W offers the best backhaul performance of any parabolic dish antenna available on the market,” said Quaid Rasheed, Laird Technologies BWA Antenna Product Manager. “Available in a number of configurations, the antenna provides an excellent solution for wideband deployment in point-to-point links operating over greater distances.”

The dish antenna incorporates an extremely rugged design that contributes to a long operating service life in extreme environments. It meets ETSI EN 302.326-3 DN1-DN5 and EN 300 833 Class 1 specifications, the most stringent specifications for point-to-point backhaul antennas. The unique feed system is available in a single polarization version which can be mounted for either vertical or horizontal polarization. There is also a dual polarized version available for those systems which can utilize dual polarization to increase bandwidth or implement diversity. An optional fiberglass radome is available for added environmental protection.

The HDDA5W HD Series is designed for 802.11 applications, OFDM systems, cellular backhaul systems, point-to-point backhaul systems, and public safety communications systems. For more information, please logon to www.lairdtech.com.
