Laird Technologies Releases BTM410/411 and BTM420/421 Bluetooth® Radio Modules

Enhanced Bluetooth® Radio Modules Add Robust, Short-Range Data Connectivity to Any Wireless Solution

St. Louis, Missouri, USA – March 22, 2010 – Laird Technologies, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of customized, performance-critical components for wireless systems and other advanced electronics applications, today announced the release of its enhanced BTM410/411 and BTM420/421 Bluetooth® radio modules.

The BTM410/411 and BTM420/421 modules are designed for data applications and are fully integrated, sub-miniature Bluetooth data-oriented modules based on a market leading chipset.  Incorporating a full Bluetooth stack and supporting Serial Port Profile (SPP), the modules provide a UART interface and a comprehensive AT command set to allow an easy interface to a host processor.  It is the fastest method of adding a Bluetooth wireless data link to an embedded product with wireless connection.

The modules are very cost-effective solutions, providing exceptionally low power consumption with outstanding range.  They support the latest BT2.1 + EDR, SSP, SPP, SCO and eSCO specifications; and meet FCC/IC/CE standards.

With physical sizes as small as 12.5 x 18.0mm and best-in-class, low-power operation, these modules are the ideal choice for applications where designers need both performance and miniature size.  For maximum flexibility in systems integration, the modules are designed to support a separate power supply for I/O.

The BTM410 module supports an external antenna whereas the BTM411 module incorporates an on-board, high-performance ceramic chip antenna. The modules are fully qualified as Bluetooth End Products, allowing designers to integrate them within their own products with no further Bluetooth Qualification.

The BTM420/421 modules use the same sub-miniature format, but support an USB HCI interface and are pre-approved as Bluetooth Controller Sub-systems.  The BTM420 module supports an external antenna whereas the BTM421 module incorporates an on-board, high-performance ceramic chip antenna.

Development kits and tools are available for these wireless modules, making integration fast and efficient.  They are backed with the company’s global FAE network and technical support resources, guaranteeing the fastest route to market.
