A new white paper from Laird Technologies® explores key factors that affect radio frequency (RF) range, which is the distance at which a reliable connection can be maintained.  After explaining how an RF signal degrades over a distance, the paper discusses these range-affecting factors:

  • Frequency
  • Obstacles such as walls, trees, and hills
  • Water in the air (humidity)
  • Metal objects, which reflect radio waves, and multipath
  • Antenna type, placement, and height
  • Antenna cable

The paper concludes with some recommendations for maximizing range. To read this white paper, click here.
