The Sentrius™ RG1xx is a LoRaWAN gateway that provides a secure, scalable, and robust LoRaWAN solution to control your private LoRaWAN network. The device offers dual-band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Cellular (NA regions only) connectivity to transmit data collected through LoRaWAN.

The RG1xx series are highly configurable and tailor-made for IoT applications, featuring:

  • Full onboard Linux OS, configurable via web GUI
  • Now supports TR-069 remote management!
  • Broader region support: North America, EU, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand
  • IP67 enclosures available
  • Support added for the new Semtech Basics Station forwarder in addition to ChirpStack, Senet, AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN, Actility and TTN packet forwarders

Major Updates

The latest firmware version GA6.3 for the LoRaWAN gateway brings in multiple upgrades including:

  • New network interface failover feature
  • Support for new firmware on the cellular modem
  • Additional non--critical bug fixes

The major advantage of the network failover feature is that it improves the device network availability in the network and reliability. The theory behind this feature is that when the primary network interface fails, the failover mechanism automatically switches to the available backup network interfaces in priority order allowing for uninterrupted connectivity and data transfer from the device to the cloud/server. This also means that in a time-critical application, the device is failsafe with multiple backup options. Ethernet gets the highest priority as a network interface in the RG1xx series device in failover followed by Wi-Fi and Cellular.

The other firmware development that was included as part of this development is specific for the RG1xx LTE variants where the device firmware was tested and developed to support the new firmware version of the cellular module used in the device.

Additional Fixes

These top two features were followed by development done to remove some minor non-critical bugs that were identified throughout the lifetime of the device.

With continuous investment in the RG1xx LoRaWAN gateways Ezurio (formerly Laird Connectivity) is committed to improving the robustness of the devices to provide a smoother experience to the customers.
